Holiness Christian Church: A beacon in Greater Portmore

With a building perched like a fortress on the hill overlooking Greater Portmore, Reverend Dr. Alvin Bailey and the members of this church are sold out on winning souls for Christ through warm fellowship and love.

We were placed at the front row and were individually introduced to the congregation by pastor Bailey. Visitors’ meet and greet  made us feel truly welcomed.

President Jennifer used the opportunity to give an overview of Kiwanis and the work that the Greater Portmore club is involved in. Also visiting church that day was the Greater Portmore High School. The principal, Eric Scott, gave an overview of the school highlighting the strides they have made since inception in 1994.

Using the story of Gideon in the book of Judges, Rev. Herro Blair Jr. delivered the main sermon in which he implored everyone to make themselves  available to be used by God.

During October, members of the Kiwanis Club of Greater Portmore were actively involved in various community events . This included a tree planting exercise at the Greater Portmore High School as shown above. Here Kiwanians and staff from that school plant a tree as part of the club’s community outreach programme. Another exercise was held at the Little Angel’s Early Childhood Centre, located beside the round-about in Greater Portmore.
